Paper Quilling – Teaching Kids How to Quill

So, we’ve been back to school for a week. It seems like Winter Break never happened! We have so many things to accomplish the next few months.

I started teaching my students how to quill. We started before winter break but only a few students were able to try. This week most of the kids were able to try it and they were able to quill a few pieces. Some of the kids have a difficult time in the beginning but it was gratifying when they are able to create something. I really like introducing my kids to new things (or in this case old things) that they have never heard of before. It shows them another side to their talents. I always remind them to just, “give it a go” and try new things. We’re not looking for perfection, just new experiences. It’s great to see that some of them realize that they are very good with their hands – building things, creating things, putting things together or apart.

As soon as we have some work put together I will post some pictures of completed work.
